Default How to install a FPR spring

this may be a simple task for some people, but for others that have never done it and think they need to buy a completely new regualtor, here's your answer. All of this can be avoided if you buy the right one the first time, or if you own one and just want to upgrade, like me. I hope it helps

weldon has the FRP and Fuelab with 120 already installed but you may run across a deal the spring actually cost me 30.00 but was still quit a bit less than a weldon fpr.

I have a fuel lab regulator part#51501-1 rated from 25-90psi base pressure

i bought this a while back but i really wanted to be at a base fuel pressure of 100. This allows me to run E85 on my ID 1000's and my inline bosch 044 and make close to 600whp. I just wanted the best of what i could get.

well the regualtor is good but i really wanted it to be at 100. so i called up fuelab and order another spring. Now to the install

matierals needed

C-clamp
whatever size hex head tool you need
and an extra pair of hands would be nice for the re inistall

take off your fittings and place the clamp on the top of the regulator. (i left mine mounted)

loosen the screws all the way out, then back the clamp off. then take off the regulator top

now you see the spring. here's a comparison. take the diaphragm off and move it to the other spring and reinstall
smaller is 25-90psi
taller is 90-120psi

here's where 2 hands can help because the other spring is taller.
i sat the spring on top of the internal diaphragm and held the regulator top while my wife tightened down with the C-clamp.

this keeps the top from swivelling while tightening.

tighten it most of the way down with the C-clamp the place your screws back in it and let the screws line the top back on.

then put all your fittings back in the regualtor

took me more time to type this up than to do it. now im ready for 100 base pressure.

hope it helped
