Default d16z6 and d16y7 pistons?

I found a crack in my Z6 block and it has brand new(around 1300miles) JE forged 75mm pistons and scat rods. I bought a d16y7 block a month ago that already had all the machine work done to it. All it needs is rods, pistons and rings installed.

My question is can I install the scat rods and JE forged pistons in the y7? I'm going to replace the rings but if I can use the z6 internals it will save me a ton of money.

thanks

The pistons will work as the bore size is the same, however you will need to check to see if the rod length is the same on the y7 as it is the z6. I am pretty sure they are but I am not 100%. If they are the same length then yes you can use them. If they are not, then you can't as the rod will put the piston to high and crush your valves.

I think they are completely the same as they are the exact same displacement.

Be careful if you plan on boosting that Y7, the 96-2000 engines have a some oiling issues and have be known to spin rod bearings.

Humm I'm trying to decide to rebuild the y7 or the z6 I have. The only reason I was going to rebuild the y7 is the machine work is done. The z6 was rebuild about 2000 miles ago but the owner ran it to hard and spun a bearing. I got the motor free. Biggest issue with the z6 is the bore is 75.5mm so I'll have to buy new pistons but my rods will work.

Sell both the blocks you have and buy a clean D16a6 or D16z6 short block?
