2001 automatic tranny swap
i have a 2001 accord that i put into retirement about 2 years ago with 150k due to getting a f350 for work. im looking into doint the f23/h22 build i have been doing alot of research on it. the only thing that will stand in my way is my transmission. i took it to a shop before i parked it they didnt crack it open they just took it for a spin and said my clutches were going out and they said it would be 1800+ for them to rebuild the whole thing. now to my questions.
if i stay with the f23 tranny and rebuild it will it handle the power of a g23?
and if not will a automatic prelude tranny bolt up to a f23 and will that hold? or should i just go threw the headach of making it a 5speed?

uhm power handling isn't the transmission's weakness. get a honda reman install it and call it a day. Honda has applied a lot of updates to the transmission and they are solid now
i know the 98-02 accords had shitty automatics from the beginning i didnt know if throwing another 100+hp behind it would make it the same problem if i should just try to get out of that generation of trannys all together. is there anything special i can do to it if i get it rebuilt. i would think rebuild would be cheaper than a reman or is it the same pretty much
For the money they want you to spend on rebuilding that auto, I would say swap the 5 speed. They have a guide under the FAQ for swapping the 5 speed into a 6th gen. It would be cheaper parts wise if you did it yourself as compared to getting the auto rebuilt and possibly blowing it out again if it can't handle power. I have always heard that honda auto transmissions have not been the best in holding up to a lot of power.
