Default Anyone with a vtec controller help out...

Well I got some questions. First off I bought a Fields VTEC controller, boxer series. Anyway I bought it used off a guy for 100 bucks. PRetty much brand new he told me he used it for 3 weeks, he had a greddy emanage thing in his civic.

Anyway he was telling me that the only way I can run the VTEC controller was if I had a VTEC computer, but I dont think thats right. I think you can run a vtec controller with any computer, as long as your cars VTEC. So my question is can you? I just want to clarify this. I am running non obd with an 89 integra computer.

Also, if I can hook it up, what wires do I have to hook up for the fuel and for the vtec activation and ****, or does someone have a manuel for a non obd 88-91 crx/civic? I am just wondering, I am gonna install it Friday so I just want to have all the information I can have before then. Thanks.

im runin a apexi vafc right now and im obdo with a z6 motor, just wire the vtec wire from the harness straight to the solenoid, and for the others just find instruction manual, the apex instructions come with ones that show it for a ef8 so its basically same wiring as ours just has the extra wires for the b16

what motor are you running? sohc vtec? how is your vtec actuated now, rpm activator? If so vtec controller won't change your vtec engagement point, a new pill will. Get a vtec ecu man! where is Duncanville? maybe I can help you out.

im runing a d16z6, my vtec is actuated by a VAFC, how exactly are you trying to say that a vafc would not change the vtec engagement, it has a rpm imput so it has to know hte rpm and it reads out rpm's on the screen

ED9 so your not running a RPM activated switch or anything? You just have your VTEC actuated by the VTEC controller right? It does everything for you, alll you do is decide when it comes on, and when it dont pretty much, and play with fuel curves.

lol, basically as in what? Like are you running something else, or just hte VTEC controller. I am like 99% sure you dont need anything else to run it. I am just trying to be sure. I dont want to not have everything when i hook it up.

just runing the vafc nothing else.... try and find the wiring diagram for the fields, 1 of the wires going ot the ecu is the rpm signal wich will read out the rpm.

Okay now I got one more problem....

I had to replace the ignitor in my distributor before.. And when I repalced it, after I put it in, my controllers RPM is different then the RPM on the tach? The tach rpm is right. As the TACH RPM rises the controllers ones get farther apart. I dont know if something is messed up on the controller or what. Can someone hit me up with an idea of what it could be? I have the controller set to give me VTEC at 3200 and it kicks in at 5200, if I want it at 5500 then i have to set it at 3500, its weird. I just need some suggestions, to why my Sunrpo tach and my VTEC controller are getting two different RPM readings, I have them both hooked to the same coil wire..

I dont know whether the fields controller is the same, but on the vafc you have to make sure its set for a 4 cylinder, otherwise the revs will be way off.......dont exactly know how it works, but when i first connected my VAFc I had this prob, til i went back in an read the instructions

when u adjust the back, make sure the rpm on ur cluster n the controller matches. when i first got mine, the damn shop didnt adjust so i was lossing hp. u need to make sure its the same, now mine is perfect.

Okay and seriously, this is my last set of questions, unless I have a question about an answer.

How do I set fuel curves? Everytime I take off it says "OF". I dont know how to set them and if it even makes a difference that I will notice. Anyone have some presets I could use for hte fields controller?
