Default Smog Ref just called me with some disappointing news...

so basically i have a 95 integra shell, and i put a 2001 motor in it from my totaled car that is still in my possession... I wanted to make it all legit for smog... He called me and told me i need to swap the the whole obd2 chassis harness and basically make the 95 integra obd2... has anyone went a different route and passed? are there any write-ups? cuz i have searched and im really having a hard time...

Yep. Buy a stock motor use it for ref and sell when done. We converted a 89 crx to obd2 and it was not easy!

Do it you won't be dissapointed.

Sure it will take awhile but well worth it in the end.

if it's a returnless fuel system on the newer OBD2 cars (probably is) then yeah you'll have to change that, as well.

ya i heard their pretty hardcore by the book... I heard that the ref at southwestern college in san diego is okay with a jumper harness... The only thing is the motor a 2001 so the ecu is obd2b with immobilizer. I want to try to run an obd2a ecu with a jumper harness but im unsure of which one to order... The Engine harness is obd2b----> obd1 shock tower harness and ecu plugs---> obd1 to obd2a jumper harness to obd2a ecu? let me know if that sounds right... I know im going to have to hard wire a secondary o2 sensor to the ecu as well... any help is appreciated

switch the vin tag on the motor back to your old gsr plate. 2001 motor instantly becomes a 1995 engine.

I bought the 95 as a shell.. therefore i have no plate of that vin... my old car was the 2001 that the engine came out of

I actually passed a obd2 block as the older one. I had to modify the breather and bolt it up. The only reason I lucked out was because the guy was out for surgery so they had 2 younger guys that really didnt care lol.

hold on.... Why are you trying to get BARd? Did you get a ticket? Or are you trying to pass smog for registration?

If you are just trying pass smog you do not need BAR. convert your motor to a OBDI via intake manifold, harness, and ecu. You can use all OBDI evap stuff and easily pass smog.

no ticket... just wanted to get hit legit since the vin #'s on the motor don't match the car... i have papers for it but they will send me to the ref anyway... around here **** is getting very strict and hoods are getting popped left and right as part of the "crack down" ... I'm pulling my gsr wiring apart right now and its totally Mind F***ing me... never had to do such a thing

well as far as i know, the ref is "ok" with jumper harnesses in certain situations... I know they want to see the obd2 service connector, and a secondary O2 sensor... MAYBE i can find a way to wire up the service connector to the ecu plugs, and then use a obd1-obd2 jumper harness... any thoughts? cuz ripping the whole wiring harnesses out of both cars and swapping it over is just ridiculous
