Default pwr steering and A/C stuff that can be added to the FAQ

Ok guys, I'm building up an ls/vtec turbo setup in an EG chasis.

My goal was to keep the a/c and pwr steering, and using resources from here mainly, I've bought parts, and tried different things.

There is a FAQ for power steering into EK's, but I can't find one for EG's. Also, some info is wrong in the FAQ.

That said, let's move on.

I've used a b18b block, with an OBD-0 B16 head. The del sol VTEC a/c bracket does in fact bolt right up and accept the d-series AC compressor. The belt lines up perfectly, but you cannot use the d-series, nor the b-series belt.

That's the part I had trouble with. So, I went and bought 5 different sized belts, till I found the right one. The b-series compressor has a larger diameter pulley than the d-series. I verified this against my '95 gsr. Also, and I'm not sure as I don't have a b16 block or crank pulley from a del sol VTEC, the crank pulley on the LS block is much larger than the d-series block.

so neither the integra belt nor the civic belt will work. The civic belt is too short, the integra belt is too long. (you can't get enough tension to tighten it up)

The belt I found that does work is 33.5 inches long. I assume it's the same size as the del sol VTEC belt, but I can't find a matching number online. But that is what works.

ok, now the tricky part. The power steering. The LS lower power steering bracket works, and the upper bracket should be from your specific head. Ok, we know that. But, some people were under the impression that you could fab up something so you can use your d-series (obd-1) power steering pump.

I'm here to say that no way, no how, can you do this. The pump itself is too big. The pulley sticks out over the frame rail too far to have the belts line up. It's a whole inch off. In order to get a d-series pump to work, you'd have to shave the brackets back towards the passenger side of the car a full inch, and the mounting holes only give you about an inch to work with. So, I cannot see this working in an EG chasis.

I'm gonna order up an integra power steering pump (pre-98, because the inlet hole changed in '98) and hope with crossed fingers that the pump itself is thinner. I'll report back. I'll include pictures of everything as well, so that in the future, someone trying to do the same setup doesn't buy uneeded parts.

cliffs notes: D-series power steering pump with b-series engine in an EG will NOT work. No matter what.

Del sol VTEC a/c bracket with d-series compressor in eg chassis works like a charm with 33.5 inch belt.

^

forgot to add, I tried to order a del sol VTEC power steering pump, but the only one I found was $400. Do I WON'T be trying that one out. LOL.

I assume though, that it's the same as the pre '98 integra pumps.
