what type of engine is this, sources say its a type r from 96 and others say its like a GSR. My buddy just got this engine in a car he bought, the seller said it was type r but didnt seem like he knew too much

Never heard of it. Only heard of B18C0(jdm type r) B18C1(GSR/SIG-R) and B18C5(usdm type r). What happened to 2-4? I guess you found out one of them.

And how did he DC chassis skip from 2 to 5?

So you mean Gsr valve train with compression of type r in the U.S.?

What color was the valve cover, dead give away for honda type r (ctr, itr, nsxtr)

the b18c3 is found in countries like malta,cyprus etc in europe, Iam not sure if this engine is available in other countries but its in the integra coupe's(thats what there called here in cyprus,no gsr) but it is infact the 10.6comp gsr with a 180hp all found in jdm sir-g's edm,ukdm gsr or whatever there called there,it has a black valve cover unless modified or switched for a itr head which is famous and that combo can be found easily.

The B18C3 is out of the Honda Aerodeck Wagon in Europe. Im not sure how much power they put out, but it was close with the Type r. And i know there trannys had a lsd in there also.

its the same as the jdm b18c sir 180 hp 10:6.1 comp i have the jdm version of it same stats

well to solve the debate over a GSR or ITR.. intake manifolds would be a dead giveaway.
