my buddy has a 00 civic EX d16y8 and he said their was some copper showing on the cooling fan a while ago but he never got around to taping it and fixing it. he said he seen his lights dim down a little bit and was running straight off the battery and alternator stopped working so he pulled over and when he turned the ignition switch off the motor stayed running even with the key out lol. he dumped the clutch in 5th gear at 0MPH to turn it off and he says he fixed it now the alternator is charging but the car will not turn off with the switch.

What could be wrong?

 

Sounds to me like the ignition switch is no good, since its not shutting off the car.

 

could it be any other problem? i mean thats what i would think also but it didn't just go out the fan wires were touching and caused something to fry correct? i mean it could be but seems more like something really screwed up.

 

You can pull out of IGN Switch and clean it and replace it but thats almost all i could think of unless its your main ign switch fuse, but that would make it not start either.

Usually Shorted wired will just blow a fuse or blow the item the load is running too.

 

No sir Ey! we got mad today and empatiient so we pulled wire harness from headlight to taillights and replaced them and problem solved! lol. we were bored and had same car next to it. parts car!

what a project! took 8 in a half hours and 2 people.
