Icon2 ls/vtec swap priming oil pump in car

Ok so I just did a ls/vtec engine everything brand new even the bolts lol anyways I started it up ran great no problems no CEL nothing i took it for a test drive after setting the idle speed i just got to the end of the block and a oil pressure light came on so i turned around turned my engine off and coasted it back into the drive way looked around for anything i noticed a oil leak but i believe it's the oil pan gasket so i hooked a manual oil gauge up to block where the oil sending unit is at and it reads no oil pressure i changed the oil sending unit checked all the wiring i did not prime the pump only because i live in arizona its 100+ degrees outside by the time i would put the pump on and everything else the vasaline would be melted completley so i took the hex plug off the oil pump filled a tube of vasaline took a air pressure nozzle and shot the vasaline into the oil pump hoping it would pick up but i still have the oil pressure light how can i prime this pump while it's still in the car it's a 92 teg.if i can't prime it in the car what can i use to prime it with the tempeture it is outside? thanks for you help

i believe your only supposed to prime the oil pump with oil, and you can prime it before you put it on the motor.
you dont really fill the pump with oil when you prime it, you just get enough to cover the gears and what not so when you do first start it up you dont smoke it. drain the oil and see whats in there

you only need to spour a little oil in it to lub not prime, verify as well the pump o-ring
maybe it's stuck or moved for the groove.

another thing i forgot to mention is it gets oil up to the lifters but i haven't took the valve cover off to determine if it was alot i just took off the oil filler cap and you can see oil going off the lifters but i know the manual gauge works because i took it off my car put it on another and it read on the other car but not on mine.
