Default car continues to blow white smoke after a new head gasket has been eput in

hey,i just put a new 3 layer metal head gasket in my 91 LS and she is still blowing white smoke. I torqued everything down to factory specs and it is on time, but it's still blowing smoke, any idea why it would do this?and also, before i did the head gasket every time i got on it more than just normal driving i could smell rich fuel,my fuel pressure is still at 34 pounds.if anyone has any suggestions or tips/info p[lease let me know.thanks.

piston rings would be my first thing to check
do a compression test
or a leak down test

iam with rally rat,,,should have gotten the head check for straightness with a straight edge,,,,just take it too your local machine shop and have them check it and its free no charge to see if it has been warped.

yeah i checked for cracks in the head before i put it back on.the car just barely is about to roll 130k miles and has only overheated once before, cuz of low coolant fluid but i got it before it had reached max temp, was just over the mid level on the guage before i got to a spot where i could stop and put water in it.

what should my comp. be at in a 91 LS motor, not sure if it would effect it but only things done to it is 2 1/2 inch header back exhaust, adjustable cam gears 3 degrees retarded and a 3 layer metal head gasket.

its probably warped and it will only get worse the more you run it

youll need to do the headgasket all over again (with a new gasket), only this time you will need to take the head to a machine shop.

ive been in your shoes before. sucks when you cut corners and it comes back to bite you in the ***

white smoke = coolant

blue smoke = oil

Sound like the head is warped. You will have to have it machined smooth again. Also wanna check the block. It can warp too
