so I'm in the market for a s2000 and I came across a 02 black with 104k miles, its overall great condition but something worries me

it has a skunk2 exhaust, injen intake, and a "racing clutch"

so when its idling, if i push the gas slightly the rpms will rise maybe 1k more then itll drop around 500 rpm feeling like its almost stalling, thats just sitting in neutral. whats the reason for that?

 

Light weight flywheel?

 

Light weight flywheels should not make it stall.

Those mods really should not hurt the cars reliability, but they might be a hint as to how hard the car has been driven.

 

sounds more like a sensor issue...

 

Or just a dirty TB or IAC.

 

thanks guys, so i searched, googled and I found out it might be from a loose or dirty map sensor.

btw would 12k including tax, registration and license and everythign be worth it for a 02 berlina black s2k with 104k miles, those mods, and etc be worth it? and the car is very clean inside and out, just needs some car detailing cause all the scratch swirls are ugly

 

fwiw i picked up my 03 BB for under 9k with 95000 miles

i got a silver clean title S2000 with 94k on the clock, just the top needed attention for 9k.. this was back in 07' before the recession.. immaculate condition and everything, owner had it for 50k miles of ownership.

I just bought a 02 with 71K stock, no dings or dents and clean inside for 13K

 

got this nice s2k F/S. clean with 90k miles 00' black w red interior its salvage title only had bumper n fender body work done. 8,000 $ if anyone is interested. so cal. PM me. we can OBO this if anything.
