Default help dont no wat motor to get

so yea i open a couple threads bout my new 2000 EK. it has a D16Y8 Vtec motor it is a SOHC, bone stock. i got the car from an old lady. it is 5 speed an a coupe. wat should i do bout a motor. should i keep the motor in it or wat motor do u guys think would be perfect for my daily car, but race car by night. this is a thread to give me ur opinions on wat motor i should get. my HP dream goal is 600hp which i no i wont get in a SOHC (idk if i actually can but if u no its possible please tell me) but i will be happy with 500hp.
please tell me ur opinions on wat i should do
money is not an issue. my parents gave me a 20,000 limit so yea. and dont ask me y i didnt get a faster car already with that money. i paid for the EK for 3000 with my own money, for a graduation present i get this amount of money instead of a trip to some boring *** place.
so yea please tell me ur opinions on wat i should do or should i keep the motor

you COULD get 600HP outta your d-series but that's like no holds bars, barely idles... etc.
also I think you'll be getting bad torque steer problems by the time you reach 400hp

a d with that kinda hp is deff not a street car. ur talkin a lot of money that coulda been spent on a b or even a k swap and get high hp easier and "safer"

imo

I just said 400 hp, it could happen at 200 hp for you.

also it won't be severely horrible, just a hard tug to the left? or to the right?
i forgot where the tranny is.

but yeah i think you just need 300whp and you can whup most people's butts
600hp will be blazing fast... once you stop spinning your tires due to all the tq that thing is gonna make.

Uh, don't mean to sound like a *****, but have your ever driven a 500hp car? or even a 600 hp car? 20k huh? Get yourself a B-series. Do research on how to build it. FI fourms for big power.

I thought maybe it was a typo when you typed "wat" and "no"...

...and then you did it again, and again, and again. Perhaps spending money on Hondas isn't where your future lies and your parents might be wise to invest that $20k in something else.

x2

btw. Unless you're going for an all out drag car... 400whp is almost totally useless on the streets in a civic except in the hands of a very experienced driver... Controlling wheel spin at that power level is everything but simple. But your "goals" of 500 and 600whp as a dd and "by night" lol be your race car... are totally hilarious.

300whp, through an lsd trans all day long and be reliable if built and driven correctly in a D series. B series thats very easily done. And my knowledge on the K swap is very little.

300 is going to be very surprising for a novice driver as yourself on the streets and you'll find that you're going to have your hands full with that amount. Do your research. Check out hooked on phonics. and take your time with your build. Dont half *** anything. Espically with 20K at hand.

i wished i had that amount of money buh i got to work on a minimum wage job..lol.well IMO if your swappin out go to a B-series go wrong on DOHC instead of a SOHC.then turbo it out since you live in florida where theres no smog law.(sux for us cali boyz..lol)..a built motor and a turbo set would cost you like less than 10k (depends on the aftermarkt parts you goin to buy)..then you have like more than 10k to use on interior, suspension, body etc..all up to you..

wow, you're one lucky ***** buddy! btw my opinion is to do H22A swap and build internals then boost it. With 20K in your hands to mod, 600whp isn't hard but it would be one hard street car.

built b, 600hp is useless inless you have hella big slicks. even with 4-500whp youll be spinning like crazy.

also consider other things your going to need to support that power, brakes, suppension, wheels tires ecu ALARM!!!!!!!!!!!! 20k can go by very quickly\
my buddy had almost 22k in his da, and it bearly made 425 on a full race kit and gsr....

you gotta balance it out performance and looks....

by the way how old are you??? this is alot of power for a kid
never mind, i see that your 17.

yea i see from all the comments that i should go with a b series motor. and trash the d16 motor that i have. also i see that 600hp is crazy and useless for a dd. so i think i will settle on 400, but if i get close to 500 i will be happy.
thanks to all for the help. i really appreciate it
now can i get 300 or close to 400 out of my D16? and i buy a LSD tranny to go with rite.
and my civic will be badass. is that wat ppl r saying that i can do if i kept tha D16

turbo would be the only way to go if you wanted to get that power outta a d..

so i would do alot of resarch first. i know a good turbod forum thats all they do and talk about is turboing single cams that you could get a lot of info from but i dont know how the ppl here would feel if i was sending thier users elsewhere lol

K series more expensive out of the box. Might at well by a b series fully build it and spend less in the began and more at the end
