Default remote start possible with some relays?

I just bought an alarm system with a remote start option, it needs optional equipment for it to work. Can I just use a relay to give me a 12V to the starter and or other wires to start the car up using the signal from the alarm to start it with the relay?
I don't know what the starting proceedure so I don't know if this works or not. Do I need to have a sequence for it, like 12v to one wire first then 12v to another wire and then to the starter for it to work, I also know I'm going to have to hook the clutch wires so I can start it up. Any help much appreaciated.

Well, just how involved? I want to know the starting sequence if it even has one, but I don't know where to find that out. I was thinking that maybe the ignition has to see some power first (to run the ECU and pump and other things that is needed), then it's OK to run the starter, but the ignition signal must stay on and maybe that is the involved part (to keep the engine running).

What should I do for that if I need to have it hooked up like that?

dei remote starters have 5 relays that start the car.. dont know the exact order but if you do something like this you have a chance of messing up the car cause it wont have a tach signal.. and if your car is manual you have to bypass the clutch saftey switch as well..

Yes... It is rather involved though...

If you are not sure about your skills and knowledge of how things interact... This can be a hazardous venture...

EVIL Teken...
I did this many YEARS ago...primarily for ***** and giggles. Please heed the warning that was given. With the cost of the modules alone avg about $125.00 retail...why bother?

just a thought

thanks for the advice everyone. I won't do it because like you said, it's too involved and will probably take too much time and $. Would probably be cheaper to go with the equipment sold for the alarm anyway, I think it was like $90.

Thanks again everyone.

How involved??...very....

and that STILL won't have the built in safeties such as tach reading, neutral start etc. etc. (you have to add them on youself...simple circuits..but you still need to know your isht)

It'll be cheaper and less pain to just buy something like:

I don't advise on that particular model, but its just to get you thinking in the right price range
