Default Black top DOHC ZC Cam Gear Question

Hello,

I have a Black top DOHC ZC motor. I want to use a set of Skunk2 Pro cam gears on this motor. They dont make them for the DOHC D-series motor. They do however make them for the B_Series DOCH.

Can use these cam gears on there?

Yes you use B-series cam gears but you have to retard the intake gear I think 1 tooth to actually be at TDC. Something like that.

you need to use the B-series gears, however, the timing alignment marks for the B are different from the DOHC ZC - the gear on the intake cam will be o.k. using the mark at 9 o'clock to align the gears - the gear on the exhaust cam will be one tooth off - you need to make another mark on the tooth just above the B-series mark at 3 o'clock on the exhaust cam gear and use that mark to align the cams - like this:

That's it, I couldn't remember if it was the intake or the exhaust.

I see that those are engine dynamics cam gears.

Even though Im looking at skunk2, I should be able to rotate the time on that one as well to get the same affect?

all B-series gears are the same, so, yes, just add the mark and line them up - we use Edelbrock B-series on our ZC, like this:

those gears are for the D16A1 and won't fit the DOHC ZC - they have 40 teeth and the DOHC ZC uses a 34 tooth gear - Bisi has edited the site to show that they are for the D16A1 and eliminated the reference to the DOHC ZC:

no - D16A1 cam gears won't work on the 88 and later DOHC ZC - the D16A1 gears are larger and have 40 teeth - the ZC gears have 34 teeth
