Default Stuck Oil Pan drain plug!

So the drain plug in my '96 Civic Coupe EX is stuck, and 2 places have said I need a new oil pan. Where can I get one without paying $300 for an OEM? Are the $60 ones on Ebay any good? Thanks guys...bummed about paying $500 just to be able to change my oil

That's strange. Did the threads get that messed up? Have you tried with a long breaker bar? It'd be nice if you could get it to budge off and tap new threads and an over sized drain bolt.

Thanks. The oversized bolt thing has actually already been done once by a previous owner....can I use an even bigger bolt this time? It's got 220,000 miles, so the pan has seen quite a few oil changes.

The guy said he can get the bolt out no problem, but the threads will come out with it. It would run $300 to re-tap it (and he's unsure if the threads will even last more than a few oil changes), or$550 for an all new pan.

I'm really thinking about one of the $60 non-OEM oil pans from EBay, do you have any experience with them?

Drain bolts don't get near anything on the rotating assembly so I don't see why you wouldn't be able to use another oversized.

Another place you could look could be a junkyard and getting an oil pan for like 15 bucks.

I haven't had any experience with oil pans from ebay so I wouldn't be able to help yo[U] out on that, sorry.

I'd try either tapping it again, a junkyard oil pan and then ebay

have a shop tap new threads, should cost less then 20 bucks. its a simple drill out, thread, find bolt that goes in, give car back to you.
