99 CRV engine load issue with air on
Hey, I'm a recent newby. I've owned a 94 CIVIC. I currently own a CRV and a brand spanking new 2009 Accord Coupe!
Anyway, I'm here because I have a problem and am not sure where to go. I don't want to take to a dealer or a mechanic. I'd rather fix it myself but I'm not sure where to start. The 99 CRV runs great. I have 156,000 miles on it and I've done most of the maintenance. I'd like to do all the maintenance but something I just don't have time for.
The issue is this. It started about a year ago and I've tried a couple of tuneup things but that hasn't fixed it. When the engine is cold and I have the air conditioning on and I come to a stop, the engine idle speed seems way too slow. So slow that the engine sounds like it's going to die. It hasn't died yet. What I usually do is just don't run the air until I'm moving or the engine is warm. Today, I heard for the first time, (same senario) the air conditioning clutch kicking on and off and on and off. When I turned off the the air, the engine idles fine. it also idles fine with the air on when the engine is warm. Is this a choke issue? Is is a computer control issue? I have no idea. Any help is appreciated.

There is a couple of things to check . First make sure you only use NGK spark plugs . Check the distributor cap , they tend to get a crust on the terminals , take a knife and scrape it off . On the trotlebody there is a part with a plate on the side that has 2 - 8mm bolts to take it off , remove the plate there is a white collar with two groves in it , it's almost imposible to see with out taking off the throtlebody , use a flat tip screwdriver to tighten the colar , not too tight .then put the cover back on . the ac condensor is probibly dirty , spray it with some aluminum cleaner and a water hose , use some preasure it get's full of dirt and bugs , that cuoses your ac to build up too much preasure . I hope I've been some help .
Thanks for your suggestions. I do use NGK plugs and I've replaced the distributor cap, rotor, wires, and plugs so I'll try looking at the throttlebody collar thingy.
