Changing Crankshaft in my 98 b18c1?

Changing Crankshaft in my 98 b18c1?
I was just wondering if I still needed to check the end play before I take it out? The reason I ask is because I am putting in a different one that has been micropolished and balanced so I was wondering if it still applied. Any other advice would be appreciated thank you.
