ok you may want to check out thezcr.com

they have a parts list there for you to get all the items you need to rebuild your engine. its where i found all my info long before i even thought about getting a dohc zc, which to this day, i may be getting on saturday lol.

well it came out of a JDM 88-91 civic/crx. but there are different versions of the engine that came in later years as well. knowing which one you have is the biggest mystery of all. i do know that for a timing belt you need an 88 prelude 2.0 si belt.

heres a link to a downloadabel pdf file for the parts list.

if the engine serial number just below 'ZC' stamp on the block starts with the number '2', it is from the 88-91 JDM CRX Si or Civic Si - HM5 is the head designation

i eventually want to convert it to a 5spd but that will be a while since i have nowhere near enough experience. what performance upgrades would anybody recommend for starters other than a cool air intake?

for this zc engine all you have to do is go to the parts store and look up parts for an 88 acura integra with a 1.6.
this will give you all the right parts for your dohc zc.

timing belt tensioner and water pump are 88-91 CRX/Civic Si D16A6 - timing belt is 88 Prelude 2.0 Si

not true - for the OBD0 DOHC ZC, most all of the parts below the top of the block, except pistons, are the same as 88-91 CRX/Civic Si D16A6 - parts above the top of the block are the same as 88-89 Integra D16A1 - timing belt is same as 88 Prelude 2.0 Si - some parts are the same for both D16A6 and D16A1 - some parts, like bare cylinder block, bare cylinder head, valve cover, timing belt covers and timing belt gear on the crankshaft are unique to the DOHC ZC

ok thanks. does it mean i have a blown gasket if my spark plugs are practically bathing in oil? or could it just be from the bad tranny?

it is one gasket but it has orings in it that go on the spark plug tubes to keep oil out
