GSR backfiring bad
Hey guys, so i just bought this GSR and found out it was burning oil really badly. I decided to fix it and bought a head gasket kit with new valve seals and all the goodies. We went through and completely took the head off and the valves out and replaced the valve seals. During the assembly i purchased a Skunk2 pro series intake manifold, along with an AEM fuel rail (stock injectors, throttle body). During re-assembly we attached those parts along with the gaskets. For timing we followed this thread, https://honda-tech.com/forums/showth...6#post34825786, the cams and crank shaft all lined up after the 6 rotations at TDC so we continued to loosen the tensioner pulley bolt, move the cams 3 teeth, and then torque it down to 40 feet pounds. After everything was re-assembled i tried to start it but it wouldnt, we realized the distributor plugs were not in the correct order. We re-arranged those crrectly and went to start it. After about the third crank it went with some gas, it was backfiring and only running because i was giving it gas, it sounded HORRIBLE! so thats where we stopped and i hopped on here for your advice! we think all the sensors are back in place but it doesnt hurt to double check.
i got brand new NGK plugs, still wont start right up, and when i give it some gas and get it going it is backfiring. The timing seems to still be on, i can see the cams and they are lining up at TDC with the crankshaft. Only thing i changed since the first post was we forgot to put the 02 sensor back in but its in now. VIDEO COMING SOON
just incase anyone is reading this looking to solve their problems, i had to rearrange the plug wires on the distributor because we had them on wrong, then it started fine, howeer the idle was off because we hadnt plugged in the iacv (idle air control valve) after that its allll good
