Icon6 What can it be?

Working on a 96 prelude si everything bone stock. After installing the alternator I go to turn on the car to check things and the belt squeaks like crazy. I removed the power steering belt same thing. I adjusted the tension on the belt both ways still the same but the pulley on the alternator is really hot to the touch. Thought it might be a bad bearing or some sort causing it not to spin fast enough so I got a new one and still the same thing squeaks like crazy and the alternator pulley is still gets hot not even 30sec of having the car on.

The AC and crank pulley is cool to the touch I even bought a new belt and use belt conditioner but no luck. The only thing I have left is to start the car without any accessory belts and see what happens.

What can it be? Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

So does the alternator line up perfectly? All the mounting hardware good? If so, it probably is the alternator.

It is a auto light alternator from kragen with the lifetime warranty. But the thing is that it was doing this with the old alternator as well.

Everything lines up all the mounting holes it looks identical to the old one belt and pulley looks like it line up with the crank and AC.

Are you sure you have the right belt size? If you bought a aftermarket belt they do have the tendentcy to give you a little bigger or little smaller belts sometimes.

usually you have to use your old pulley it should be a 4 ribbed belt, and i take it this auto light is a re manufactured one? right? i work, unfortunately, at a discount auto store, and they suck i would never put a reman on my car. I've bought three starters for my old jeep, back to back they came broke. get a brand new one, just poney up the dough!

Everything on the new alternator is identical to the old one. I checked the belt and it has four groves and fits on the AC, crank, and alternator pulley just fine. The new belt is the same length as the old belt also.

Forgot to mention I got the motor rebuilt by a local machine shop. Do you think it can be the timing belt that is causing the noise? Before the motor was rebuilt everything was fine.
