Default Extending My Warranty

I know I'm blowing up this forum with lots of threads, but I need some more advice.

I talked to my Honda dealer about extending my warranty to 100K. Its at 32K now, and they claim its going to cost about $1300. Would anybody recommend a 3rd party warranty provider as seen on tv, or are they something to stay away from?

the only aftermarket warranty i would suggest is Zurich, stay away fro U.S. Fedelis (spelling may be wrong) that one is run buy a well known ex-con who spent a number of years in jail for conning people, he's currently building a multi million dollar home and denying customer compensation for their claims on work that should be warranty.

Look for small-time guys. You'll get a better deal.

I went with some kind of Ameican Fidelity or something. Backed by Bank of America, they gave me 5 years or til I reach 100K for $990. They basically matched Honda Care's price, and it is full bumper to bumper. I have 30 days to cancel. The only thing I wasn't sure of was towing compensation. Honda Care reimburses towing, so that may be a big factor in keeping this policy or not.

Join a credit union and sign up with them. You could contact http://www.usfidelis.com/, all a warranty/extended warranty is-is an insurance policy. Have you tried contact your own insurance provider? Keep in mind a good policy shouldn't have you paying ANY out of pocket expense and I would elect for a $0 deductible.

Don't. Warranty companies make money. That is to say the money you pay them covers repairs + admin costs + advertising. You only need to cover repairs. You could spend more than the warranty on repairs, but probably not.

I would pay the extra dough for the Honda warranty. Then you don't have to deal with the potential hassle of going through another company to get work done at the dealership. A dealer warranty just seems so much easier to work with, since the place giving you the warranty is the same place the car will be getting worked on at.

Then make sure to take full advantage of the warranty.

The price on ALL these services are negotiable, no matter who they are offered by.

REPEAT:

U.S. Fidelis is run by a scam artist, who will refuse payouts when you get work done.

do you really think it's smart to spend almost 1,000$ on a warranty from a company that Honda is suing? Sounds pretty retarded to me.

Just buy your warranty at your Honda dealership and try to negotiate the price.

Never.

Our shop services over 70 Hondas and Acuras per week, and I deal with these so-called aftermarket warranty companies on a regular basis. Almost none of them pay out, and it's a massive headache of phone calls and paperwork only to get rejected. The vast majority of these companies are a scam.

The only extended warranties that are worth the paper they're written on are Honda Care and Guardian - and neither one is cheap.

Okay here's the latest. I spoke to a rep at my local Honda dealership. He advised that what Saccucci is doing is against Honda's wishes, and claims that they are selling the warranties at cost which basically screws all the other dealers. In the meantime, he came down from $1350 to $1090 total with tax, trying to compete with Saccucci. He's also setting me up with a warranty that cover to 100K miles, Saccucci's was just until 95K. It's backed by Zurich, which he claims is the best.

Now, US Direct Protect called me and gave me the same deal, only for $990, same as Saccucci. Covers towing and rental, and is actually the bumper-to-bumper NASC Ultimate Policy, backed by Bank of America.

Saccucci is out, considering that if they lose the lawsuit, Honda may not honor my warranty. Do I go with US Direct Protect and save $100 or go with the guys at Honda. Neither is an actual Honda warranty. Only difference is I can choke an ******* if **** hits the fan at Honda Village, whereas at USDP, these guys are just selling over the phone.

i've had warranties through dealer before with Zurich, I have never had a problem that they would reject to pay, hell i had a S10 that they paid to replace a new GM ALT, and the updated injector spider assembly, both very costly repairs that i did not pay a singlle dime outta pocket.

My dealer agreed to redo the paperwork on the 08 Civic Si we just bought. He had given us a warranty by Mastertech backed by American Financial for $1390 with $100 deductible. We told him we want to cancel that. I explained that I wanted the Honda Care warranty. He will get us that for $950 up to 84 months or 100,000 miles. It does have the road side assistance. Is that a good deal? He also offered to drop the first one down to $1000. Should I go with the Honda Care.

Also, can someone please tell me what Honda Care actually covers? For example, what if you go to have your tires rotated and they tell you you need new roters-would that be covered?

Thanks

Rotors are brakes which are normal wear items, so no, they wont be covered by basically ANY warranty you buy.

Id get the Honda Care warranty and avoid any headaches that could come from trying to save 100 bucks with an aftermarket warranty...

did you negotiate the price and finance rate of your car? Why wouldn't you negotiate the price of these warranties?

I find it so comical that people will fight tooth and nail on the price of the car or to get the monthly payments down yet just lay down and accept the price on all the add-ons like GAP, extended warranty, accessories, vehicle care plans, dealer installed options, etc.

It would be nice if Honda had a scheduled maintenance plan like BMW and VW that could be added on for an additional fee.

Absolutely, I negotiated it which is why the first one magically dropped $300 and the Honda Care price is about par with the pricing I have seen on the internet actually it is less than some of the internet prices. The Honda Care will cost me less than the one they originally wanted me to get.

Also, the car has been certified and they said that that extends the warranty on the engine, transmission and one other item until 100,000 miles so is the other extended warranty necessary? I am just trying to weigh the pros and cons.
