Default Problem with Starter and Battery

Hey Guys,

I got my civic motor and trans in back together after sitting for about a year in the garage. I tired to see if I got any ECU codes. CEL turned off after a about 3 sec and the ECU only did a short power on flash.

Then tried to start the car, and the motor was turning over real slow and then i notice smoke coming from the area of the starter. - So I made sure that both terminals on the starter are tight, and that small plug was in place. Then checked the ground wire from the trans, body and battery were tight.

Tried it again and it still smoked and the terminals on the Battery and Starter were pretty freakin hot.

Any suggestion on what the prob is or how to troubleshoot this issue. - From what Iv'e read ppl mentioned check wire grounds and making sure the terminals connections are good..

MAN i wanna drive my civic...

I tried to see is there is some thing causing the starter to overload. Now I see that ican turn the axles while in P,R,N,D but I try turn the flywheel that the timing belt runs on and it won't budge.
