Steering wheel shakes/cuts when braking, please God help me
I hope someone knows something about this.
I have a 99 LS w/ABS and whenever I brake my steering wheel will shake a little and cut hard one way or the other.
I already had the front calipers replaced twice and had new rotors put in with new hoses. I have no ABS codes coming up or anything. Had my front end all checked out, alignment too and its all perfect.
The best suggestion I've got is to replace the struts b/c my mechanic found that the wheel only cuts when I brake AND hit bumps. He thinks probably struts but could be steering rack.
Do I just replace the struts and pray its not the steering rack or get another opinion? Could this be a master cylinder/proportioning valve issue??

Had the system bled out twice when the calipers were replaced, which makes me think that probably isn't it
How is your struts, blown or still usable? if the struts are bad, it could only be one side and making it steer to the blown strut's side.
Struts are drivable if they are wearing down, but the wheel jerk can happen in either direction. I figured it might not be struts because this should happen every time I hit a bump, or only to one side.
Had the problem before an alignment, had it aligned and didn't make a bit of difference afterwards...anyone think it is suspension based, braking based, steering based? I'm totally lost and it sucks

From: if you build it they will come, the bottom carolina, duh
Your rotors could possible slightly warp'd.
If your tires were outa balance then it would always do it. And it would shake more when you are accelerating, rather than braking.
My guess is your rotors are either warped, or your pads maybe shifting.

I just had the rotors resurfaced and the problem still exists. What do you mean by pads shifting? Could the rotors have warped b/c they are autozone parts?
I would hate to buy nice rotors and pads if its the prop valve or worn struts/springs, any way I can figure out the reason with any certainty? I'm just a poor student, lol
I believe that cars with abs atleast honda anyways, dont have prop valves. They have big reservoir looking contraption that acts as the prop valve.
