Need your input on motor
like the title says, i am looking into swapping my sohc for a b-series. i want to get the car bar'd so ls-vtec is out and gsr's are hard to come by. how much work would i have to do to get a b18a or b close to the hp i'm looking for.
it will go into an 88 civic hb which i converted completely to obd1. please guys point me in the right direction. your input would be greatly appreciated.

well, i can get the motors from the junkyard and build them. the only thing is coming across a grs is a bitch. i see ls motors left and right and can pick them up for about 150 to 200 the gsr for about 250 but like i said gsr is hard to come by.

You ever thought about Turbo? I know SOHC's doesn't give you that spunk, but when Forced Induction is added to these little engines, they are pretty nice. I got 148whp with 145trq at DO IT DYNO on 3.5PSI and I know I can get over 200 with 7PSI, but I want to get a Si Tranny with LSD first. But this was possible with a $400 turbo kit I got off of Craigslist and after tune and fuel management, it all came up to like $800. The parts are cheap and pretty easy to get. Save you the time and money and achieve your goal with no problem.
OOOO and if you want a dd, this is the way to go. I still get around 30MPG.

i've thought about boosting the sohc but love the way the b looks in the bay. plus if i swap to the ls i can later boost that if its not enough for me.
**** i hate not having enough money.

ok so i came up on an ls motor and have a question.
through searching i have found many guys revving 7800 to 8000 just by using ARP rod bolts. i am assuming that this is correct but just wanted to double check with you guys.
