2006 odyssey shocks
I went to the dealer for a regular oil service. they said my rear passenger shock is leaking and that i should replace the back pair. $200 each.
Can anyone suggest what brand shocks to get and possibly where i can buy them for a good price.
Also, is this something I can do myself in the garage with the right tools?

I would replace both.
A few thoughts.
1. The shock could be defective. So maybe the shocks all came from the same OEM batch.
2. It's the rear. Is it the right rear? The right rear often take more beating than the left rear. If the shocks are made of the same quality, the other one may go out soon.
3. Is there something else that is causing the shock to wear out? Bad shocks can cause tires to wear out. So I'll assume it can have the opposit effect too. Your tires may already be damaged, so you don't want it to hurt your new shocks. Check to see.
4. You don't need Koni shocks, and OEM can be expensive. I think shocks on the Ody does go for around $80-$100 each. If the dealer is charging you $200 each, you may want to look elsewhere. Try Pepboys.
5. I've never install a shock on an Ody (Mine is 09). The rear does not look too hard for a DIY project.
