Making LS faster
Whats good htech!! I have a 92 LS. And i have a cold air intake, aem fuel rail and exaust. I was wondering what i can do to make it faster besides going v-tech. I was thinking Heads, intake manifold and, throttle body. can anyone tell me which they have if they do and if they are good and perform. Thanks!
heads? v-tech? lol. you mean head, and thats expensive. and its vtec, and thats kinda pricey but with good outcomes. depending on your budget you could go boost. around a grand in parts if you piece a kit together and do the work yourself.
^^ without going vtec or turbo, I personally wouldn't throw that much money into an LS. Also look at how many miles are on your engine, if its reasonably high then you're not going to get that much power out of it and its best to save your money for something else. But if you really want to spend your money I would do headers next, intake manifold, and throttle body.
I mean it's got 106,000. Im just a measly college student trying to get a lil more power. idk I just need some help and opinions before i decide. but vtec and turbo idont think r in the questions cuz i;d just buy a new motor

why buy a new motor? i've seen alot more miles than what your car has boosted. mine just clocked over 160,000 and i have every intention of boosting it.
Spend money on school so that when you get out you can get an awsome job to add a turbo or buy a turbo car and start from there. Thats what I'm doing. Even though i have a exhaust, CAI, and a header on the way. LOL
Even a stock Integra Type R (the fastest usdm Integra) is a high 14 low 15 second car. That is quick for a 4 cylinder na fwd car, but it's not fast by any means. If you own a Honda, the only way to make it fast is throwing a turbo or supercharger on it and getting it tuned. 1.8L motors are made for gas mileage and reliability, not power. I would save your money for a while and decide. Don't get an intake, header and exhaust because it will only make a noticable change in the sound and look of the car, but it won't be much quicker at all. Especially on a low revving Ls motor like you have. Save up and learn, and you will make the right choice.
I second the transmission swap suggestion. That's the best idea yet. That will make a bigger difference than your standard I/H/E.
Upsizing the throttle body is never a good idea.
Don't waste your money on N/A parts unless it's cams and high compression pistons. But whether you do a real N/A build (not bs bolt-ons), or forced induction, you're going to need a programmable engine management system and a competent tuner. So plan for that first.

I'm with the tranny swap with a good clutch and a lightweight flywheel . i got my ys1 gsr tranny for 300 so yea cheap and fun. not the fastest thing in the street but im beating ep3 and 2000 si so im happy.
