Launching an R
OK it's probably been asked a million times before, but I'm going to ask again.
What is the best way to launch a Type R? I'm going to drive mine at the SCCA pro-solo finale in Topeka and I need a good way to launch without bogging.
I was watching Matt Grainger launching at the peru Pro-solo and it looked like he was using high RPM with a lot of wheel spin of the line. It seemed to work since when he ran against the WRX it looked like he had only lost about 3/4 of a car length at the 200' mark.
Thanks for any info.

i never launched my car over 3g's seeing that it wouldnt do anything launching it above that. by launching it like that the tires would barley screech and next thing you know you are in v-tec with grip.
It depends on temperature, both of the engine and the tires. On concrete with a cold motor and cold tires, 4.5-5.5K is more than enough. Feather the clutch if you notice a little wheel hop or too much wheelspin. As the car gets hotter, torque will decrease and the tires will grip better so you'll need to go up to around 6 or maybe 6.5K. My rule is the car should never bog and if it's out of VTEC longer than 1 second or so after "hooking up" in first then you didn't launch hard enough.
