anyone think a comptech supercharger worth it?
i was planning to throw on a supercharger with just an intake and stock exhaust and header for sleeper mode. but i keep thinking that is it really worth 30 to 50 horses, cuz with 3659 i can buy a lot of mods. so what do you guys think?
Well to be honest Sleeper mode is going to go out the window when the s/c whines.
Now if you get the stage 2 comptech s/c header intake exhaust and the flash pro tune you can make up to 330whp. Avg stock whp dyno is 175ish. Thats a gain of 155whp.

i know about the whines but i want to keep the supercharger carb legal
whats the average cost on all those parts?

i say you get it and get the quiet drive pulleys so you dont hear the whine.
im also wondering now since flashpro is out, what happens to the price of the stage1 kit?
since the reflash isnt necessary anymore? maybe they wil offer just the kit for less?

hopefully because its kinda price for just 50 horses
The primary benefit of a supercharger, especially one like the Comptech unit, is not peak horsepower. The benefit is a strong, flat, torque line across the majority of the rpm range with great throttle response. Ignore peak power numbers, they don't show the full story.
Of course, its generally cheaper to make the same power with a turbo as a supercharger, but if CARB legality is an issue cost can tend to take a backseat to keeping the car legal.
For a daily driver that could use a little more grunt, especially around town, a supercharger can be a great modification.
If you know you'll be one of those people who just has to keep making more power and is never content, a turbo would offer more room to grow.
Different strokes for different folks and all.

superchargers are usually safer than turbos too. i had a supercharged b16 in my eg for about 4 years and had zero realiability issues otherwise i had quite of few turbo friends go through alot of parts. love the extra torque
