D-Series Shift Linkage Question
Hello all, I'm working on an auto to manual on my 93 4dr LX and am using a Transmission from an EK as well as the Shift Linkage from an EK. I drilled new holes for where the shifter needs to go (the indentations on the metal) and am trying to put in the shift rod onto the transmission and after pulling on it hard as ****, it still needs about an inch for the holes to match in order to put the bolt through. Am I using the wrong shift linkage? I thought that the shift linkages from a d-series eg and ek were the same. Are they really different lengths? is it normal to have to pull real hard on the shift rod in order to make it fit?
I did do a search but didn't get any good results. Most questions were B-series related.

I have a 97 w/ Y8. If it's a s40 b000 tranny the its from he EX, if its a s40 a000 then its from a DX/LX or some other 96-00 Civic
so if you're running a Y8 motor and it's tranny then its the S40 B000
