A Few problems with my 89 CRX...
ok I got this 89 CRX si with a dohc ZC, and I have a few problems..
1) Car pulls to the right, previous owner said front passenger lca needs to be replaced, im not sure. Car also needs a major alignment, one wheel points in one direction, other wheel points the other.
2) Speedometer doesn't work
3) Check engine comes on after driving for a bit
4) Everytime I step on the brake pedal, the Door/Seatbelt light comes on and beeps for a bit. It does it every time I step on the brake.
5) What parts do I buy for my car? like ... its for a dohc zc.. not sure what year car i buy parts for it
6) Sticky gas pedal, not sure why, but my gas pedal is always sticky, cant really smoothly drive it. maybe throttle cable? i ono
These may be stupid questions but I'm a noob at hondas. If anyone can help, you can text me too (714) 862-8109

1 - Get an alignment. They are only about $80 at the Acura dealership near me. This will either fix your car, or the tech can tell you what parts need replacement.
2 - Make sure the cable is all the way down in the speed sensor on the transmission, and also all the way in on the back of the cluster. If this is the case for both, buy a new cable, yours is broken.
3 - What code is the ECU throwing? Count the flashes on the LED - look under the passenger carpet.
4 - Sounds like a short somewhere...is the wiring all chopped up?
5 - Not sure....never dealt with DOHC ZC.

1) Needs a major alignment.
2) check to see if the speedo cable is connected.
3) Do a CEL and see what code comes up, possibly o2 sensor, but make sure.
4) Mixed up wires?
5) some b series parts will work, but not sure which ones

its on the passenger side, on obd0 u look at the ecu, there will be a lil round window with an led inside...count the flashes the same as u do with the cel...u dont need to jumper the plug either
i have a feeling it might be o2 sensor too.
i meant like, oem replacements, like o2 sensor, stuff like that. what kinda car do i gotta buy em from? like when u go to an auto parts store to buy oem parts, i dont think ima tell them i have an 89 crx si with a dohc zc. lol.
where do i check the speedo cable?

Put your key in, turn to the on position. Count the short flashes until there is a long pause. Count again. If you get the same number, that is the only code. If you get a different number of flashes, you have multiple codes and you will have to deal with each of them. The ECU is in the passenger floorboard. Pull back the carpet. There is a small window in the center of the ECU where you can see the red LED.

Thumping noise sounds like a bad spot on the tire - go get your tires checked out.

Take the cover off the back of the gauge cluster. For an 89 civic, I think the whole surround for the cluster comes off as one piece. You will see where the speedo cable goes into the back of the cluster - right behind where the speedo gauge is on the front. Make sure the white clip is engaged on the cable end, and you can't just pull the cable out of the cluster without squeezing the white clip.
For the tranny end, look near where the rear mount bolts to the top of the transmission - that is where the cable goes in. Again, make sure you can't just pull it out of the tranny. There is a small metal clip under the rubber boot that retains the cable.

It is possible the cable is gummed up. Pop your hood and make sure you can move the throttle butterfly through the entire range of motion by hand without it feeling like it is dragging. You can also make sure the problem isn't with the pedal by unhooking the cable from the peal and making sure it swings freely. My bet is it is the cable.
