Well the Del Sol has been a garage ornament since December since I am just gathering up parts for its new build. I have had the hood proped up on it kinda in a ghetto fashion, and well today it came back to biteing me in the ***. One of the mounting tabs that is fiberglassed into the hood broke loose. It looks like I can do a quick fix but I need to know what bonds good with fiber glass for me to just put the tab back in and seal it. I have no experience with glass and if I can avoid taking the hood to a body shop I will. Any ideas fellas on what I can use for a quick fix? I looked up j-b weld and it says that it bonds to fiber glass...maybe I should just try this?

 

fiberglass loves fiberglass....fix the tab with fiberglass

 

JB Weld is fine for small things, but for what you're talking about I wouldn't recommend it. Definitely fix with fiberglass.

 

Maybe I will try the glass, but man the repair is only like the size of a dime and the j-b weld seems like an easy in garage fix?

What is the tab that broke off for? When you say mounting tab, you mean where the hood prop sits?

You're welcome to try the JB Weld, I just doubt that it's going to hold up.

 

mix up some fiberglass resin or some dyna glass to fix

 

There is a wing nut that is molded into the fiber glass. This is what my bolt goes into. The wing nut simply busted out of the glass.
