b would be the best bang for the buck. k is better but to many mods and $$$$
but if u live in cali. make sure the b is same yr or newer than the yr of your ek.

if you got the money k series! If not I would think b series would yield more hp than a boosted d. But don't get me wrong if you build a d series for turbo you'll take a b series if it's stock or with minor bolt on's. But build a b series and you'll be happy or even better build that k series and boost it! It all depends on how deep your pockets are.

Throw the y8 in the trash. Do a simple b series swap. You will be stoked. To each his own but I say simple b series.

Everyone starts with a b-series swap first. If you dont really know a whole lot about swapping, then b-series will def be a learning experiance for you, especially if its your first swap.

I would have to go with b-series as well if you're set on swapping. If you're planning on keeping the d16, turbo is pretty much your only option, building a n/a d16 is useless.

No shame in a turbo D.

Your budget, time, overall goals for the car are what come into play.

You need to decide what you want from the car, longterm.
