Problem putting back transmission on, any suggestions?
I'm having some trouble putting back my transmission back to the engine..
Car is a 2001 Accord coupe 4cyl, 5spd.
I'm using a motorcycle lift to jack the tranny. I took alot of precautions trying to put it back into place, not forcing it in any way. Me and my bro managed to push it back in without forcing anything, but we got stuck with a little problem..
I've got abit less than 5mm gap all around (bellhousing to engine block), i can clear it in the front gap but not the rear.. I tried slightly tightening the bolt(s) but they have alot of resistance at about 3/4 of their way in, so i stopped there. Tries also lowering/jacking the tranny a bit but no luck..
Here are some pics;
GAP - tranny to engine block (front)

GAP - tranny to rear engine mount bracket

MISALIGNMENT - rear engine mount bracket to tranny

No matter what we tried, we couldnt get those aligned.. with what i could see, tranny dowel pins seems to be correctly in place, and nothing seems to protude between the tranny and the engine..
I'm kind of lost..Anyone has suggestions?

what if you try just bolting it into the block and maybe that can help... could be the pins arent able to slide in all the way or something... maybe worth a shot or not
that's not too big of a gap to pull up with the bolts.. you just need to get those holes aligned. try a big pry bar on that rear "T" mount, and try lifting the motor slightly, maybe with a trolly jack or a strong friend.
give it a good shake too... sometimes it will just slide into place.
hope that helps.
