89' LX won't start and no CEL.
I bought this 89' Lx with 142,300 miles, auto, in april, it needed a fuel pump which I put in and the car ran fine for a while. recently I had to replace the battery and now I'm having problems. the terminals are tight and the ground is tight also. doesn't matter if its warm or cold either.
It first started with the car wanting to die when I would come to a stop, it would idle down really low and die or almost die, if I put it in neutrel, it would stay running. I tried stopping with just the e-brake and it would stay running if I didn't use the brake pedal to slow... maybe a vacum leak..not sure
After the battery was replaced, the above probelm was still an issue but now the car won't start. I have no check engine light, I have three clicks from the main relay, I hear the fuel pump prime for 2 seconds, I have a nice yellow and blue spark, new plugs, wires, cap and rotor, valves have been adjusted correctly, new fuel pump. car is all stock, except the last owner deceided to put a header on the original D15b2....?
The car will start or want to start for a second or two and then just crank, the coil tested within spec and I had the ingniter tested at Advanced auto and it was good.
are any of these problems pointing to a bad Main relay or something weak or on its way out. I haven't tested the ignition switch yet, what should I be looking for or what should I test? I haven't checked timing yet but like I said, it ran fine for a week.
I've tried the search on here and google and haven't quite found the solution, if you think you have a link with a good answer, please post it up.
Thanks for the help.
