Default 96 Spec JDM B18C-R BAR'able in my 94 GSR? Final word? Searched with yes/no results...

I know this has been covered many times, but since 4/13/09 (or so) I know the laws have changed in Cali. Reading past topics showed some guys say YES, if the JDM engine is a "sister" to the USDM car, i.e. a USDM GSR could be BAR'ed with a B18C, but what about the B18C-R? But then there are guys that say JDM engines are NOT legal NO MATTER WHAT.

I just want a final Yes or No whether I can do this swap and get it BAR'ed in my 94 GSR. I originally planned to do this swap in my EM1, but because of this new law/addendum my plans have changed...unless I wanna spend the extra $$ for the K20a2. A final yes or no and I'll leave you guys alone. Keep in mind I mean the 96 Spec B18C-R swap, not the JDM GSR swap.

Thanks

Here are links for background info:
http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermkt/replace.htm
http://www.bar.ca.gov/80_BARResource...uidelines.html

The links above show that it should be ok to swap the JDM ITR into my GSR no problem, but it's a little vague regarding the swap in my EM1 (though I know it'd have to be a 00/01 JDM ITR swap in my EM1).

You can BAR a JDM motor! It has been done many times, and as long as you got the usdm emission stuff on it (i.e. evap, purge, and etc..), you'll be good to go. ?

Ok, so thats one Yes, but are you taking into the consideration of the new law (4/2009)? I know before 4/2009, it was no problem, but now I've read some guys are saying that JDM motors will not pass no matter what application, period. I wish it'd be ok in my EM1, cause that one could use the motor more than my GSR.

as far as i know, the guys who have posted in detail claim the b18c will ONLY pass in an integra gsr or type r since they were oem that car. worst case you can buy a #1 punch and punch a 1 next to the c

thats pretty much what i read too, but in the 92-00 Civic forum, some guys are even saying it's ok to run a JDM anything in any USDM chassis too. How's your ITR swap running these days?
