http://m626.photobucket.com/albumvie...DCO213tw%3D%3D Like WTF is this **** and where do the hoses go coming off of it
Ya it's foriegn to all y8 before 99 and 2000 it's only on those two years saw another at the wrecker but I can't find anything about it
Any one please with a 99 or 2000 y8 take a pic of that plastic tee or tell what it is I don't want to put a coolant hose where it doesn't belong again..... Bitch to empty out coolant from IM and combustion chamber lucky I didn't hydrolock
so pls if someone knows anything about that tee thing, coolant or vaccum? Or wtf

I don't know if that thing comes with the car or not but if not, you can probably replace it with a stock part and not plug it anywhere. It depends on what it is.

it does come with the car but its only on y8's of 99 and 2000, so its not aftermarket. but still dont know if its a vaccum or coolant thing ahh
Yes, its for the air-injection. The side nipple you need a hose to connect to the air intake, after the air filter. The top nipple you run a hose to the intake manifold.
Yes, that is the part. The air-injection is only turned on for cold-start. That plastic part is a thermal switch. It will only allow the air to flow into the intake manfiold, and then to the fuel injectors, when the engine is cold.
Oh, you mean the control valve itself is located on the thermostat housing? That makes sense. If that's the case, I stand corrected.
Btw, why does this control valve exist? Why didn't they just use the computer to check the coolant temperature and then based on that open the IACV valve when the car is cold? Why do you have to have a two parts when you a single one can do both jobs with a simple check in the computer?

I'm not sure why they went ahead with that design. Probably a cost savings to make the mechanical thermal switch than to incorporate a logic control one, and they don't have to do any ecu programing for it.
IMO...not sure why they had to add that POS emissions device for just the 99-00 y8 engines
