First of all, I'd like to make a warm greeting to everyone at honda-tech. Over the years I've used this site as an invaluable resource for many problems and ideas for my car. As far as I can remember, I've barely posted, so here goes.

I have a 1993 Honda Accord EX-R 4 door sedan, automatic. I am a fan of automatic transmissions. I have restored the interior of the car to near-mint condition, the exterior I am planning on attempting to cure the rust in the rear quarters with (hopefully) some local help.

As for mods, I haven't done anything drastic in the least. Short ram intake and aftermarket 4" exhaust. The only speed apparent is through the illusion of cosmetics, like the hood scoop and stock spoiler from another EX-R.

I am wondering... Where should I spend my money so I get the best bang for my buck? Light weight pulleys and/or driveshaft? Remove the AC? Carbon Fiber? Struts and springs? Turbo? H22 Swap? I'm hoping to get a sort of timeline that some guys can all agree on, so that I don't just blow my money and inefficiently increase my hp and acceleration.

I'm sure there are quite a few holes in my logic, but as I said above I am very much novice to modifying cars, and I don't really have the vast all-around understanding of how all the parts of the vehicle interplay with each other. I'm hoping for someone who has as much love for 93 accords as I do to help me out.

work on gaining an understanding of how all of these parts work together. you'll be better off knowing for yourself, rather than depending on everyone else to get your car to work (...or go faster). try to find some local guys who are already working on some stuff and see if they'll let you get some hands-on experience.

It really boils down to what you want to do with the car. For me, I find going in a straight line horribly boring...i'd much rather be thrashing around turns. So for me, the suspension mods are top priority.

However, if you're looking for more power then you need to decide (and soon) whether you are going to stick with this powerplant you have or are going to swap. If you're a novice, doing a swap is probably not the best place to start (a.k.a. you'll have to contract out the work, which takes away all the fun). If you're going to go turbo, time to start doing research in the F.I. forum to get an idea of what thats all about and what you'll need.

 

Thanks so much for the positive words guys. And I was reading up on swapping the H22 Head onto my F22 block, that was pretty interesting. Wondering exactly what the benefits are. But I still have to sift through the FAQ and see EXACTLY what I have to do to make it work.

I'm also looking for an H22 locally right now, I think I might change the powerhouse in it.

As for the 4" exhaust, I stole it off a scrapped MX-6 I found laying at the scrap yard for 5 dollars, then I slapped it on at a local muffler shop for 40. It sounds mean haha. Plus the last muffler shop I went to stole my catalytic converter (to make a few dollars) so it sounds even louder. I have aftermarket headers coming in the mail right now too. I am a junkyard scavenger though.

I would like to have a well rounded accord, something that has good acceleration and power, you know I don't want the world's fastest, but something that I can whoop a little *** with. I would definitely enjoy cornering and turning.
