Default TRUNK LEAK.. and its raining all week..

for some reason my trunk got a puddle of water in the spare tire area.. i was thinking of the light gasket cause when i swap my 97 tail light to a 99 i forgot. so i take it out and put it back. and the next day i can see water building up.. and i notice there water in my tail light when i open the trunk... is it the weather strip from outside or do i need to seal it? and if to seal it do i seal it from the oustide when the trunk is close. or do i take the TAIL LIGHT out.. and what kind of seal should i buy and where. please help cause it gonna rain all week! ahhhh
picture would be nice.. THANK YOU

is the taillight gasket still good? Is it ripped or anything like that? If it's not that it maybe coming from the antenna? If it is the gasket, I have used weather stripping bought from walmart n made my own gasket, but if you don't want to go that cheap route, you can always go to the Honda or acura dealership n get some new ones.

I had a water leak in my 99 hatch and it was the vents under the back bumper cover. I'm not sure if the vents are there in a coupe or sedan but I would assume they are. You can see if it's them by removing the plastic panels, they are below the taillights. I just got some caulking and sealed around them. Of course you said there is water in your tail lights so it probably isn't the vents but it's worth a check.

quick question .. i didnt remove the gasket so i might put it back wrong.. where the gasket located? is it when u unscrew the screw and it right there? or is it when u remove the tail light and it there.... and what about silicone.

IT all depends did it stick to the body of the car, or stayed on the taillight themselves? Its a black spongy material. Looks like picture below and its the thing thats being pulled up.

I know that isnt the correct make and model of tailights, but i was trying to give you an idea of how the gasket would like. Other than the dealership, im guessing ebay, or search it on google, your can try silicone, but if you need to take it out later, it might be pain.

If its the antenna, the drainage tube may have come out of place. if you remove the driver side trunk panels, you will see it, its a clear tube.

Heres what you do... This is what I did to find my trunk leak.

Get IN the trunk while its raining really hard, and pull all the rear panels out. Look with a flashlight closely. I was getting puddles in my trunk, and found a small pinhole leak in the very back left corner of the car around the seam sealer. Got some more seam sealer once the rain stopped and the car was completely dryed back out with towels/etc and no more leaks. The car had a dent that went onto the inside of the taillight hole area that had broken a piece of the seam sealer open.

GL. Replace that gasket if thats all it is, there like $20 from Acura.

maybe rubber grommet on the antenna mast might be broken or ripped.

Mine leaks in the trunk when its stationary. Im annoyed because its recently started and i cant bloody find it. i have re-aligned and sealed my taillights, put expanding foam between the rear quarter panels which also deadens vibrations. i have cleaned out the drain away for the sunroof and the fender vents. i do have to check the mid section of the sunroof drain away but i am stumped at how to remove the interior trim to gain access to it. Besides, I live and breath in England and the rain is ******* me off for over 4 months now. I have an eg saloon 1994
