8 Inch Wide On An EF9?
So I recently picked up another EF and started another project. I used to have a CRX with 7.5 inch wide wheels and they fit good and all but I was wondering if anyone has squeezed 8 inch wide rims on a EF and if so what offset and tire size did you use? Im thinking if I stretch my tires it shouldn't rub or anything too bad. Any Ideas? Comments? Pictures?

This depends on a lot of things really. I'm running 15x8's on my EF.
Now You have to take 2 things into consideration:
-The height (fender gap) you want
-If you want to tuck the wheels inside (CAMBER)
You have to either run alot of camber to sit flush or it will poke about 1.5" inches (for atleast a 15x8" +15 offset wheel) or you can run a VERY STIFF suspension setup that will make the car practically have no rebound to allow rubbing to occur. The stiff suspension isn't really logical because it will make your *** bleed and it's a horrible ride, and camber will just wear your tires to nothing in about 2 months.
Hope this helps.. Personally I'm running a 2 finger gap with the 1.5" inches of poke and my wheels will be up for sale either end of summer or next spring.

i just tried some of my buddies wheels, 16x8 +38 wheels with 215/40/16. it fit flush but i have -4 degrees of camber and rolled fenders. I was also tucking a little bit of tire. I think it woulda fit a bit better with some smaller tires
my buddy auto-x his crx and he had 15x8 slipstreams wir 205/50 tires and just had to trim the lip in the rear fender wells, and his suspension setup was koni yellows custom spring rate eibachs and ground control top hats
15x8 +25 offset 3 inch lip
function and form type one few turns to go. needs to be lower to produce more camber.
Not to mention rolling and pulling the fenders.
You need to run 195.45.15
1.) because your running a wide wheel and a 50 series will rub, too wide of tire will not clear fenders.
2.) because your trying to pull off rims that cost more than your car
its possible to run a 205-50-15 but the whole point of a low offset wide rim is stretched and dumped. The rims stick out way past the wheel wells.
idc what tires techs have to say if stretched is stupid and unsafe. 195 is considered a mild stretch.

installed on car without load:

notice the way the tire sticks out
installed and loaded:

camber, NOT ENOUGH
although i havent put on tires yet you still need to make measurements and see what your working with, these rims barely clear the rear camber kit and barely touch the front hub assembly, luckily those parts stay stationary. Id suggest buying camber kits to allow more negative camber. an 8 inch wheels need a low offset to clear suspension etc, 7 inch wouldnt
example:
lowoffset.
14x6 +35 with 20mm spacers front 25mm rear
+10 offset +5 rear
i think i did the math right........
rubs like a ****

also camber doesnt wear tires, your toe does. so as long as you dont have extreme negative camber, then you wont need to worry. just be sure you get an alignment.
just a headsup, there are plenty other forums that discuss this kind of trend. you gotta do some research and learn something about offset, tires, stretch, camber, alignment, etc. look into it and hope you get some more info.
this is just my common knowledge about lowoffset wheels.

you can either run the 15x8s for looks, which is my whole point or you can run them for performance.
i personally will never put the intended wheel needed for an 8 inch rim.
1. because it wont clear the fenders
2. because its ugly
i think a 8 inch can run 225 no problem, but im going for stretch and wheel fitment. i know the mods for the tire and suspension thread dont reccoment tire stretching since each rim and width has a specific tire. 195 on an 8 inch is considered mild stretch.
my 15x8s clear the rotors/calipers no problem, but if the offset were higher. lets say 30 offset id be hitting the camber adjustment bars and would also hit the front cups on the struts..
But if i were to get lower offset wheels i wouldnt have any problems with clearance than to just make the car suit the new rims.
