Yep, I jumped ship on the DSM game.
Why? Because I want a change of pace.
I'm posting here because I would like to get some estimates on which blocks can handle what power, Example: D16 - Max HP: ____ (Talking stock blocks here)
I'm looking at a few hatchbacks in my area, and like the idea of messing around with forced induction ie; turbocharger. (yes, my TSi was turbocharged. I get it.)
What motor should I be looking for? My plans are to cruise around with the possabilities of a 12 second pass at Mosport.
Any other advice is appreciated.
Thanks

Welcome. Your looking at 220 hp on stock z6 bottom end. If you want a good platform to start with pick your self up a B series. There is a couple of different versions of it though. b18b1=140hp, b18c1 around 170hp, b16a2-160hp, b18c5-210 hp b17-?? im not sure. The power ranges are different for jdm and usdm motors also
i Have only seen it done a few times but A f23 single cam in a civic would be cool and on a stock block can hold down close to 350 with the right tune and a nice turbo. You didnt really specify what chassis its the engine is going into
Welcome, I also ditched the DSMs like 2 years ago, and very happy I did. I have had so few car problems since. They are fun fast cars, but man do they have the problems with them and a lot of them really sucked to fix. Anyways, good luck with your new project.

Yea, I kind of thought there would be some "You've got to be kidding me" responses, but the searches come back too broad, I'm making my own.
Off to a great start guys, and Thank you.
EK Chasis.
Err, Yea, I fail at identifing chasis models.
Could you tell me what model this is by looking at it?
Engine code? How many Engines are used in this model?

thats a 92-95 civic hatch dx judging by the moulding on the side and no sun roof. comes with a 1.5 non vtec
also it looks like it might have been wrecked because the fender is missing the moulding and has no holes so its a fender from another car

Holy, Tons of replies!
So it would be a D15__? Z6?
Alright, I can get the hang of this eh
And its stock block can handle around 350, let's say.
Sleeved block means?
Coming from a 4G63 world, these are just words.

sleeved blocks are used to put down more horsepower. Im sure you have heard of sleeving a 4g63 or 420a. stock sleeves can 't really handle cylinder pressures used in high HP engines
Well sleeving 4g63's aren't all that common. So I can see not knowing what sleeving is exactly. But at the same time coming from the turbo world it should still be common knowledge. Stock honda sleeves don't really handle a whole lot of pressure. Stock d series you will get in the low-mid 200's hp wise.(I know some have had more) B series is a better platform to start with and can easily get you 12's with a mild setup.

I have only dealt with 4G63 turbo setups. Sleeving is very rare. Most anyone would do would o-ring the head.
I'll keep my eye out for a b-series to start from.
In this case, this build will be budget oriented.
Thank you, this thread will be referenced.
