how to improve my reaction time?
from the bleachers drag racing looks simple, drive a car, right foot down,in a straight line however when your doing it its much more complex, got track surface and traction, careful rolling into the starting lights bringing to the ideal launch rpm
there's also no second chances you either do it perfect or you head on home
any tips will be greatly appreciated also are there any Drag racing schools in CA
thanks!

Does this even need to be said? Go to the trip and practice... you get the hang of it quickly. As far as tricks? On street tires I dump the clutch as soon as I see the third yellow and cut .5xx rt's all night. When I'm on slicks it's a different story. I have to wait a split second after seeing the third yellow or I usually hit .4xx rt's. I cut a .503 the other night at PIR
Just practice man.. try different ****.

I always look at the tree when I go to track for future reference. You can also get a better reaction time if you deep stage. But practice is the only and best way.

i stage very deep and actually start rolling before it goes green...not the best method but i cut .5xx's all day long so I haven't tried to change it
Just keep your eyes off the hoochie's on the sidelines poseing on cars. That will help a lot as well. Roy Hill drag race school is in CA. Its held at Pomona race track. I think there is also a school at palmdale. But they are expensive. I think it just takes practice. Go to the track as much as possible. I also have a hand held drag race game. Its different then chassis reaction times...but just gets your mind thinking quicker...Mike
I wouldnt practice the deep stage method. It doesnt improve your reaction time of your body, it just says it does in the numbers. Plus your gonna run the risk of red lighting. And to top that off, the more you deep stage, the higher the et your gonna run. If you barley stage in, it gives you a rolling start as the clocks dont start until you break the second light. So it might say your reaction time isnt as good, but your et and mph will he higher. Practice getting fast at this method and you cant lose.

note to self: NO looking at hoochies and deep stagging.
Mike I learned something about deep staging from your dad about top fuel dragsters. The front wheels are not the same, one is in front of the other. I saw a top fuel not to long ago and sure enough he was right. Not that I didnt believe him or anything just wanted to see it for myself.

definitely... PRACTICE. even if you run with slicks or whatever... you still gotta be able to launch cool to use it to your advantage.
yes it does have to do with timing...but remember there is such a thing as a .400 pro light.
practice practice practice.
in street classes 85%+ of my rt's are .5xx. I'm talking hundreds of runs

It takes .500 seconds for the lights to change from yellow(s) to green. .400 on a pro tree.
The .500 is actually when the green lights up...obviously the clock ticks from there.
Edit* Believe it or not the handheld trees that Mike uses works. If your also into gaming, most dragracing games will have the proper timing as well. I know my friend said he bettered his r/t's by playing an NHRA drag racing game on his computer.
