Default ep3 b pipe

I want to change out my b pipe and keep the stock muffler. Ive read that the megan pipe with a resonator is great, but to me it sounds like a rice turd. Although i thought that a resonator helps this problem, I have read that a b pipe with out a resonator would sound good on an ep3.

Can anyone verify this, or provide a video? I will be getting a custom b-pipe, but i can't decide whether to get a resonator or not. I really don't want to leave the shop embarrassed of how my car sounds.

I have a stock engine, probably install headers in the future.

I've been debating this too but if you're worried about how your car is gonna sound I would definately go with a resonator. It's going to be louder without one. The main thing thats going to change how loud your car is if you are keeping your stock muffler is if you retain your cat or go testpipe/high flow cat. If you want a little deeper sound and are keeping your stock cat then you would probably be happy with no resonator. Just my 2 cents.

I'm going to add a high flow cat.I don't really care how loud it is, just as long as it sounds good..

This has a megan midpipe with a resonator and sounds like crap

It's kind of hard to tell from that vid if it has a cat or not. I don't think it sounded aweful but if you can I'd just run a highflow cat and keep your resonator. You should be happy with that.

RH, highflow cat, custom bpipe with no res and stock muffler is the best combo you can get!

Remember the stock muffler flows just as good if not better then most aftermarket exhaust/mufflers!

That's what I have minus the high flow cat. It sounds really good to me and i do get compliments on how it sounds. The only thing is that it's a little raspy so it will depend on if you like raspy or not. Other than that I think stock EP is a nice, clean, low key way to go for exhaust.

This is what i would like to do, but i am just worried about the sound.

Will this give me a nice deep sound? Or sound like a ricecart, like in the video i posted.

I'm using a T1R b-pipe (w/ resonator) with the stock header/muffler and it sounds amazing! But good luck finding another T1R b-pipe

From what I have read and heard (video):

Megan Midpipe + stock axleback/muffler + stock header = not too bad as far as raspyness goes

but

Megan Midpipe + stock axleback/muffler + DC Race header = sounds like some SOHC dog ****.

^^ Oh I thought it was discontinued? Either way, I got mine for $100 brand new, you won't be able to beat that price

And yesh it hangs low, but my car isn't slammed so it's not an issue.

Right now im leaning towards Highflow cat, custom bpipe no resonator, to stock muffler. Then adding a RH in the future.

Thanks for all the help

lol so a high flow cat + custom midpipe wont cost anything? If you def plan on getting a RH, I'd just wait. Used DCRHs arent even that expensive.

And why are you set on a custom midpipe? Chances are, it won't be stainless steel, it will be CRUSH bent, and it will sound like ***.

I would like a quality RH. I havent looked into to many RH recently, but ive never heard many good things about DC.

I want a custom mid pipe because its cheaper, and i don't need to a name on my piping. I don't see the reason to spend 300+ on a pipe.

It's not the name that matters

But fine, spend $150 on a custom pipe and have fun replacing it in 2 years when it rusts through and falls off your car.
