Default Really bad sputter, then spark!

Everytime I go to turn on the hatch it sputters first then it turns on like nothing. ONly on cold starts. Then if i drive around for awhile and try to turn it on again it'll crank and then die. IM thinking its not getting fuel, but from where? And when I drive on the freeway, crusing at 75 at 3200-3500 the car feels like it surges, like it needs fuel. A little gas fixes it though. Sir b16a by the way.

Check Engine Light on? Which ECU are you running?

pw0 or pr3. You may want to check to make sure.

An easy way to check to see if you are getting fuel is to pull the return line off the bottom of the fuel pressure regulator and turn the key to the on position and see if fuel comes gushing out, you know you have fuel. You may want to check with another main relay under the dash.

I know I am getting fuel. Which is why the car turns on. IM just wondering why it always hesistates. It turns on all the time just with that weird sputter in the beggining. And if Im crusing around 3200-3500 rpm it'll feel like its missing until I give it gas. Then it feels normal. Any insights?

Check the distributor, or the main relay. Sounds more like a distributor problem though

Well I was seeing if it was possible the fuel pump might be cutting out.

Are you getting a strong spark in each cylinder? Have you checked the timing to ensure it's correct?
