Default PW0 on d15?

Im buyin a d15b vtec to swap out my blown ZC. the guy says he has a PW0 ecu that hell sell me for $100 plus the $400 engine & tranny. Will that work with the D15b? Ive read its a b16 vtec chip. Id like to kno b4 i waste $100. And should the d15b swap clean into the old ZC mounts?

the d15b will swap in just fine

and no you do not want that ecu. it's designed for the dohc vtec b16, not a sohc vtec d15.

you'd run hella rich, and might throw codes because i think the b16 has a sensor or two that the d15 doesn't... but i'd wait to make my decision until the pro's chime in

You will need a OBD0-OBD1 ECU and distributor conversion harness which will run you about another 150 bucks plus you will need a 4 wire o2 sensor. You can get a PM6 (obd0 Civic/CRX si ECU) and just not have vtec for now and you can run a VAFC to engage vtec or the MSD box which is activated by RPM.

its a piggyback fuel computer with a built in vtec controller. you splice in a couple wires at the ecu, and then you can "tune" the car from the little box. its certainly better than going with an rpm activated switch, but not as good as just converting to obd1 and using a p28. its up to you which route you want to go. if you do a google search on vafc you will find lots of info about it.

ninja edit: just found this. has some pretty good information

cool. thanks for the link. im gonna check it out. is converting to obd1 something "novice" can handle? aside from the soldering of the ecu.. which im not gonna mess with. im just tryin to save some cash if i can. or would i b better off finding a shop to do it for me? tuner shops r hard to come by where i am tho.

absolutely a novice can do it, its not difficult at all. if you run obd1 with a p28 then you won't need the vafc, and you won't need to solder or wire in anything extra.
