92 honda accord Mystery part
so i was helping a buddy of mine who has a 92 honda accord. the engine shitted out on him and his gf ordered him a jdm engine online. he qouted. he asked me to go over and help him figure out where these two hoses went. i traced it and found that they were power steering hoses, but he told me they were coming out if the transmission before he did the swap. i looked a t the usdm tranny and out of speedometer gear there were two connectors for hoses of some sort. i took that speedo gear apart and there was a pump connected to the speedo gear shaft. i've never seen that before, i'm curious as to what it is and it's purpose, is it some wierd thing 92 usdm honda accords had. the jdm one didnt have the pump, it was just a regular speedo gear with the wires coming out of it.
Not sure wothout more details but maybe it was set up for a trans cooler. You see it more on Pilots and Ridgelines for towing packages. Just throwing it out there
This is probably the powersteering speed sensor, its job is to decrease the amount of assistance from the power steering at high speeds, and it's driven by the speedometer gear shaft.
that makes sense. thanks nysdriver. since the jdm tranny doesn't have one does that mean he'll have to get a power steering rack that matches with the engine and tranny.

I think the way it works is that your power steering sort of goes "offline" at speeds > 35-40 mph courtesy of the speed sensor (#9)
You could probably just plug the hoses that go to the speed sensor, but that may make the steering unsafe at the highway speeds because you will be getting full assist when the steering effort is already minimal...
You could also disable the powersteering altogether, but I think it *might* be more than just disconnecting the power steering belt; search the forum: it has been done.
On the second thought, you could just bypass the speed sensor by connecting the two hoses together, *not* plugging them. This should keep the assist off all the time, sort of like disconnecting the power steering.
Ok, I was a little bit off. Here are the factory specs for the properly functioning power steering system for the '92 Accords:
Steering effort for a stationary car: ~ 7 lb
Steering effort at speeds above 30 mph: ~ 11 lb
The service manual also states that bypassing the speed sensor is equivalent to 30 mph+ driving (i.e. it should give you the same 11 lb steering effort), which is much better than not having the power steering at all, imho.
I'd say just bypass it, and see what happens...

loop the one hose back to the other i have done this in 2 vehicles with no problem....tho it may oversteer slightly as long as ur careful youll be fine
^^^^ like this guy said just loop the lines back into it self . thats how my tranny is rite now , i have f22a4 with an jdm h22 spd tranny . this puzzled me too at first .
