OT: what you guys think of car shows?
have any of you entered your car in a show? mines going to be in a show this weekend and i donno if i should just say "screw it" and not enter it or just put it in the show since i've spent GRIPS of money on my car recently. It's going to be around like a couple GTR's and some nice WRX's and supra's etc, so my car probably won't get alotta attnetion. You guys think the import show scene is wack or ok to show off?
ot - i entered my car in my school's car show in the parking lot
. it was fun but the only thing that was really stupid was that i lost the "Best Import" category to an auto GS eclipse with NAWZZZZ and a wild *** body kit, and i have a JDM front! haha
that is wack...hehe
on topic - most of the cars in big car shows are just plain rice. but there are also tons of respectable sports cars in those shows as well. if you have something worth showing off, do it
. oh yeah, cover up your VIN

nothing wrong with car shows if you are into those kind of things, just beware of theives trying to get a heads-up on what you have to go and steal it later.
the only car show i ever entered was with my si and i won an 8foot trophy for first place in my class, so it can be fun. i felt like a badd-*** carrying away that big *** trophy..

i'm only doing it cause my buddy that is the head salesman at a import shop suggested it. their crew up here is pretty famous and win almost all the trophies. they got like 3 R33, his car is an r32, they gotta blue R34, couple supra's etc. they also did the first FMIC on an automatic wrx so they're pretty famous. if i was in the show next to a buncha APC riced out cars i don think i'd enter, but these guys' cars get some recognition and i thought why not, i just dropped a few G's on my car why not show it off.
Go to Pac NW H-T meet ONLY man LOL! Yeah beware of thieves, u never know what kinda ppl checked out your cars in those shows.
Someone already told me "I wanna "buy" one of these ***-kicking TypeRRRRRR mangggg", which what he said made me feel kinda...weird, especially when he has all those bling blings hanging on his neck.

My motto is "my car is for driving not showing".
I don't mind going to the odd car shows but I would never enter my car in one. It's nice to see some new cars and products. But car shows are pretty much all the same so I can only go to so many per year (like one
).

I only like new car shows and antique car shows.
The shows you're talking about are just about everything I hate, condensed.

it depends on the judges, everything is at their discression, I've gone to shows where I lost to stock cars with wire loom and stickers. My JDM front end is worth more than their entire car! The reason I lost is b/c the judge didn't know what he was looking at.
if you go to have fun and not get stressed over winning it can be very enjoyable.

It's OK for the first 2-3 hours...after the 5th hour your tired and you wanna leave...after the 7th hour you vow never to enter you car again. Overall, I have more fun at test and tune nights though then a day getting stuck at a car show.
I entered my ITR in three shows and I'm regretting doing it to this day. My R was stolen earlier this year and I believe entering import car shows prolly was one of the reasons for it happening. There are lots of thieves and haters who attend them, just looking and scheming in order to victimize someone's car!
I've been to so many in the past, I find them really boring now. I usually do not attend them anymore but I won't say I will never go to one again. But as for entering my car........NEVER!

Oh no. Are you entering you car into the KUBE 93 thing? That is gonna be a bunch of riced out civics...and only that. Hot Import Nights was bad enough, now we are gonna see something sponsored by the worst radio station
....
BTW: at work I was listening to the radio (forced to mind you
) and they were giving away tickets to the car show mentioned above. The callers call in and choose who's gonna win a race between two of the radio station DJ's. You hear revvs and then they start talking trash as they race (or sound like racing). I noticed a few funny things during this. The cars sounded like pushrod V8's...haha...and then one of the DJ's starts talking about how his quote "225 horse POWERS is gonna own the streets" I started laughing and the two kids who listen to that radio station started looking at me all weird. I just started laughing even harder! So I just took a 15min break and went back...still laughing... I think its stupid (yet incredibly HILARIOUS) to see these ricers around town talking like that...because that IS how they talk!

kinda ironic. im goin to the sign shop today to have a small sticker made for my race car. its goin to say "show cars r for pussies" i think that explains it all.
interesting opinions, well it's my first show and if i don't like it, screw it i won't be doing it again. and garagespl and their cars are definately NOT show cars. check out some of the cars i'll be entering in with at http://www.garagespl.com
The best shows I have ever been to are 3 day minitruck runs. I haven't been to one in years, but those have always been the best shows ever.
Nowaday's it seems like all the shows are about big business. They have gone away from everyone just hanging out and having fun. Today's shows remind me of disco's with a bunch of cars parked inside. Just my $.02

Car shows are cool, just to see different cars, but the people that are attracted to car shows...that's another story.
For any Utah people, there was a car show in Layton (ghetto area) which was cool...me and my friends were waiting for a booty-shake contest when 2 people were shot.
People are really pathetic...that's all I can say.
