98 civic dx, loss of power, then would not start up
Okay I took my honda civic on a trip, I started to loss power, and throttle response, I was going up a hill so I thought it was just struggling, I downshifted, and it still kept slowing down, gave it more throttle, some reaction just kept slowing down, as I was pulling over, I noticed my oil light flickering, and it was over heated. I turned the car off, lt her cool down.
Then tried to start she would not start, tried to jump her off, still would not crank, also tried to dump the clutch, and no response, the tires just gripped.
Its not even trying to turn over.
I have a really sludged up head, and was about to clean it, (I bought the car recently, and the guy ran cheap oil) I was thinking the oil lines ,ight be clogged? Or maybe its off time? Or the fuel pump went out, how can you tell?
Thanks for all of the help!

The flickering of the oil pressure light suggests that you were low on oil or the oil pump was dying. The tires gripping when you tried to push start suggest that the engine has seized up. You probably need a new engine. To verify, put the front end on stands and try to turn the crank pulley with a breaker bar. It's bad news if the engine won't budge.
we were thnking that the engine seized, I will definitely try that technique. If it doesnt budge, looks like were rebuilding the engine
had a similar problem when i purchased my civic couple months ago. check the head gasket for leaking oil as well
saw your build thread. Im building my dx right now too. good luck with everything

ok, im the engine guy that he was talkin about, this is his head,
,im hopin and prayin that some of the sludge fell off, clogged the line, which caused the it to lose oil pressure and stop gettin oil to the cylinders, so what i am going to do tomorrow is try to turn the crank pully and if i can get it to turn im going to go to advanced get carburator cleaner, oil and this stuff, kinda like the stuff you use to pour down a sink o unclog it, and try my damnedist to get it back runnin if not then i will pull the engine and completely rebuild it, but i pray it will be as simple as i hope. if not he gets his gsr and i get his setup which means ill have my mini-me swap and finally a 5spd trans haha, but if anyone knows what else i could do to get it goin again with out havin to rebuild it, please feel free to provide your input

well after running some tests on it, its not seized up, we went to the car and it started right up, only problem is, isthat the car got way too hot and bent a valve or that a valve is beatin the shat out of the piston, so what we are going to do is replace all the valve stems and one piston, if its made contact with the vavle, if not just goin to get a set of valve stems
