ok i put a aftermarket header on last weekend and ever since i put it on the car started running worse and worse this is a d16y7 with only 182xxx kms
i was told i did not have too run the secondary o2 sensor as it only tells me if im emmiting or not so i was fed up with the way the car started running, today a few minutes ago i installed the stock headers back and the car was fine for a few minutes but after that passed there was smoke comming from the engine does anyone know if this is only temporary because i have both my sensors and catalyc converter back in or is this a HUGE engine problem now
**** i really hope its not, stupid ****in header cause me this much grief i cant believe it.......

 

well you got a y7.. so your cat is on your headers.. if you get an aftermarket header.. you will need to get an EX cat.. wheres the smoke coming from..?? maybe you need a new exhaust gasket..??

 

uhm its comming from the engine... and i know the cat is on my headers thats why i put it back on cause i didnt have one i put all stock stuff back on and now its smoking im like wtf is wrong!!!

 

cmon guys i need some answers if this will be normal too drive to work tomorrow or not i have to take the highway and really dont want to be stranded

 

where exactly is it smoking from? how bad?

 

i cant tell but its all around the engine ....... its not thaat bad but its noticeable

 

Where exactly is the smoke coming from? From the header? Can you post a photo or video? Does the diagram help?

What color is the smoke? Is it black, white, or blue?

 

Im guessing the smoke is coming for the exhaust gasket.

 

it is white smoke and its all around that area ill get aq vid tommorow but i cant right now

 

which gasket is this? i think it seems like a bit more than that because the exaust i took a peak and it seems fine the sound is fine aswell

 

.......... coming from the engine..?? yea i would hope so.. LOL.. but it doesnt help when you cant tell us exactly where.. we cant help if we dont know whats going on.. but im pretty sure its the exhaust gasket since it was probably the only thing that was taken off..

 

in the picture.. where it says gasket.. those are recommended to be changed everytime its taken off. theyre only like 5 bucks.. i think..

 

ya i hope your right but everything seems really tight like.....i dont get it the smoke was comming from all around the engine

 

did you spill something on the engine lol?

 

did you do anything else..?? like oil or any types of fluids?? any fluids get on the motor at all..?? if so.. it could be just burning off..

 

Maybe you spilled something on the downpipe while putting it back onto the header underneath the car.
Like water or something then the smoke went up to the engine bay.
How is it running with the oem header?

 

I had the same smoke your talking about when i put my aftermarket header. The smoke was only temporary because of the new header. Run your car for like 5-10 miles straight and the smoke will be gone.

Just got done with this actually. Its the inside of cheap exhaust gaskets burning up. Not a huge deal just gotta burn the new gasket edges up. You may want to just get some nice new ones while everything is still apart.
