:::EDITED::: I installed a P28 Chipped ECU with a JDM ITR map and it runs sooo much better and harder. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP! Will have an updated time at the track once tuned and new BFG drags are installed.
Hey guys. I have a question. I just put in a low mileage JDM B18C 96 spec ITR motor in my 94 GSR. It doesn't have A/C. Just Power steering. The motor has DC JDM 4-1 Header with 2.5" catback with Vibrant muffler. AEM intake and Hondata I.M Gasket, adjustable cam gears set to 0 right now until i get a tune but everthing else is stock ITR. I'm running a P72 Obd1 Ecu right now thinking that its not that much of a difference besides 8,500 redline instead of 9K. Well I got a 1/4 mile time of 15.2 @ 94mph w/ 2.5 60ft. Which is a horrible 60ft. I got a nice exedy clutch and new Kumho tires 15". Is that a bad time considering the ecu i'm using?
My question is the Stock P72 ECU affecting me big time?
What should I be running with the correct ecu and say a 2.0 60ft?
Please no bashing. Thanks.

thats not bad considering you're using terrible tires and the wrong ecu. get the right ECU and tune it and get a nice set of slicks and you'll me low-mid 14s.

Better tires will help. But so will practice. 2.3~2.4 are possible in a GSR with stock tires and stock suspension.
What transmission GSR or ITR?
What rpm did you lauch at?

Tranny is GSR with LSD. I launched at 3k with slight wheel spin... but this tires just felt like they didn't grip whatsoever.
what tires you running and how old are they?
sounds like you need a little more pratice and some stickier tires bro
but a stock R wil not run that fast in the 1/4

I got some Kumho tires. About 6 months old and have about 75% tread life left. I had a LS/vtec hatchback a while back that i took to the track and would get 1.8-1.9 60ft with Nitto Drags on.. I can drive pretty good... its just with these tires i can't do any better than a 2.4 60 FT. But i'm getting the ECU i need and tune with the camgears i have.. and will see what happens then.

DUDE.....your running a GSR ecu?

If your running a stock GSR ecu on a JDM ITR motor, thats hurting you just as bad as those tires. The GSR has a 2 stage engagement for the manifold the GSR comes with. Because of this, the ITR ecu has COMPLETELY different air and fuel graphs. Also, if you only take it to the stock GSR redline of 8000 rpms, your falling out of VTEC at every shift. The reason the ITR is so fast is because once you engage VTEC on a straight and you hit redline (9k rpm) when you shift, your already in VTEC. I would assume that with you shifting at 8200 rpm at WOT your dropping to about 5400-5600 rpms. If you were to shift at 9k you would drop to about 6200-6400. Of course this all depends on how quick/good of a shifter you are but you are getting KILLED not having the right ecu.
put it this way...the GSR is the little brother to the ITR. The ITR is capable of lifting 250 lbs all day. The little brother GSR however is only capable of lifting 200 lbs all day. What your doing is telling the ITR he is only allowed to lift 200 lbs.
Get the right ECU, if your getting camgears, then DEF get it tuned. Even a stock motor will benefit from being put on the dyno because each motor is different. If you have a couple of mods done as well, once you get those camgears and get it tuned, im sure you will see MUCH MUCH better times.

it should certainly be faster than 15.2!!!! A stock '95 GSR came in at 15.5. The USDM '01 ITR clocked at 14.7. The JDM ITR motor is a little stronger and with a couple of mods and a nice set of tires should give a little help. With a tune and the right setup you should have no problem being able to get low 14's with a good driver.
Well put DC2. Itr's run less timing and more fuel. Different cumbustion chamber designs effect the flame fronts propogation hence having different timing requirements
