Default lookin to semi-build my y7.

im preety iffy about it. but im getting some block work done soon. to make my car run again cuz i spun a rod bearing and i bought a new block. OK SO ANYWAYS

is it worth getting:
cam,cam gear, valve springs, valves and retainers and all that.

im also adding a y8 intake manifold with a fujita cold air intake.
probably scoopin up some headers and hks high power exhaust.

when the time comes...

after all that ill tune it and call it a day

so is it worth it?
how great of a power adder is it to build the head?

and how big of a gain am i looking over all?

You're not gonna see much of a gain...yet it depends on the specifics of the set-up.

Cam would probably help you the most, the gear really only helps for looks and some timing adjustability, Valve springs will help prevent valve float on the hotter cam and raise your Rev Limit. Valves, depends on if you get higher compression or not but generally are just there for the safety in there strength. Retainers...sorta need those for the better springs or you could see some crazy failure.

Y8 Manifold does breath pretty good..I know...I have one...but if you're gonna use it, hot tank it, and maybe port the inside out a little..Or rough it up with some low grit sand paper..atomization is the ****.

Fujita CAI..what made you chose Fujita? If you're saying N/A, best ratings I have seen is for either the PWJDM Whale ***** or the AEM CAI V2.

Headers...eh..the options for us D-Series guys are limited so do your research..DC's seem to crack quite often.

Then for Tuning...Im a big fan of NepTune..with the right tuner you could see some gains.

Stock bottom end is alright..but be careful. Also with that said..dont believe the "D blocks are only god for ***" horsepower...cause its all bullshit. It depends on the tune really..I saw 219 whp on a stock bottom end..had a good tune.. So dont believe that.

However..you probably wont see that great of gains...but would be good preperation to boost. with exception to the CAI and headers..

ok well i dont want to waste my time and money with building it if im not gonna see a drastic change. hence the single cam so obviously. but i heard the whale ***** reduces performance at lower rpms and ive never heard bad things about the v2 so ill look into that. how big of a gain would i get with a bigger t/b?

waht if...:

i port and hot tank the y8 i/m
get the CAI which ever one i decide
cams.
some kind of header. my friend had a spoon syle one.and it was alright.
and exhaust.

i just need my car running a little faster than the other d series dudes around here. and smoke some auto ls's you would be suprised on how many ppl do **** with auto cars.

it would be cheaper for sure, but you still wouldnt see great gains.

with D's you ether go stupid compression All Motor, Swap it, or Boost.

Im boosting my D.
